9 LEAP – Curtin University Engineering in Schools 2015
November 16th, 2015
The 9 LEAP Science Class has been working diligently on the Engineering in Schools project for the past six months, being led by Curtin Engineering students including Lucy Barton (LSHS Class of 2011). The project involves identifying a problem in a third world country, analysing data to identify an engineering solution to solve this problem, creating working prototypes and reporting and presenting on the results. Each of the eight schools competing submitted engineering reports, posters and prototypes, and on the night, presented on one project.
Lesmurdie SHS performed very well in securing the prize for the best prototype and coming second overall in the competitions at the presentation held at Curtin University. Their projects showed both creativity and engineering innovation. The project posters are on display in the library.
It was pleasing to see many of the class members and their parents turn up to the Presentation Night to support the presenting team.
