ANZAC AWARD
August 26th, 2014
Each year Lesmurdie Senior High School honours ANZAC Day with a Commemorative Service. We believe that it is important to facilitate opportunities for students to gain a greater understanding of the significance of ANZAC Day as an integral part of the identity of our nation, shaping the ways we view the past, the present and our future. Our school’s service plays a vital role in establishing historical connections for our students, hopefully linking yesteryear’s sacrifices to the wonderful lifestyle enjoyed by us today.
We are proud of our Commemorative Service and of our students who participate in it. Students set up and lead the assembly, provide music, form the catafalque and wreath laying parties. The service is always very moving.
This year, Lesmurdie Senior High School was the state runner up in the Department of Veterans Affairs 2014 ANZAC Day Schools Awards, winning $500 which will be put towards running next year’s Commemoration Service.
