Year 8 LEAP went on a Marine Biology excursion to AQWA and Naturaliste Marine Discovery Centre (NMDC). We spent the morning at AQWA, working on an assignment about different marine species and phyla. After lunch in the park, we spent the afternoon at NMDC dissecting fish to extract otoliths (earbones). Scientists use the rings on the otoliths to age the fish. One of the people helping us dissect the fish was West Coast Eagle, Glen Jakovich.
