I trust you have all kept safe and well over the school holidays and are ready for Term Two.
Today has been a pupil free day allowing us to finalise preparations for the term ahead. As of tomorrow Wednesday 28 April, school reopens for all students. As advised last week, the State Government has given parents a choice about whether their children return to school for face-to-face teaching or learn from home. It is a personal decision influenced by each family’s circumstances. If you are unsure or have concerns for your child’s health, please discuss this with your GP. They are the best person to help you with your decision. The State Government has also determined that no parent is to enter school grounds and we thank you for your understanding and support with this.
All students who attend will be taught a face to face program according to their normal timetable. Students who choose to learn from home can access their learning program online (through Connect) or through the hard copy packages provided. The government has strongly encouraged Year 11 and 12 students to attend to continue their critical study program.
I understand this may be an uncertain and difficult period for you and your family and I would like to let you know of some of the processes and practices we are continuing or introducing this term.
During Period 1 tomorrow, Deputy Principals and members of the Senior and Lower School teams will visit every classroom reminding students of social distancing, hygiene etiquette (wash hands, sneeze into elbow, cover cough with arm or handkerchief/tissues) and student support available for good mental health and wellbeing.
Soap is available in every toilet and we ask you to encourage your child to maintain good hygiene. You may prefer your child to also carry their own liquid soap, sanitizer and water bottle.
You may also be aware that normal Transperth schedules resume for schools as of tomorrow. If your child catches public transport to school, please ask them respect social distancing whenever possible and avoid pushing or crowding as they enter or exit the buses. This will be reinforced at the walkthroughs tomorrow.
The Uniform shop will open on Thursday from 8.15 – 10.00am then each Tuesday for students to try on and purchase uniforms. As directed by the Department, no parents are able to enter school grounds, so unfortunately you will not be able to go to the Uniform Shop with your child.
To simplify purchases you can complete the order form available on the website and use one of the following options to pay:
Uniforms ordered this way will be available from the Front Office by the following Tuesday afternoon.
If your child does not have the correct uniform for tomorrow, please ask them to go to Lower or Senior School for a pass.
Any disclosure that a student has Covid 19 or any attempt to infect ‘others’ (even if joking) will be treated seriously and parents will be contacted. Now is not the time for humour and we ask you discuss the consequences of such action with your child.
Finally, we are working to finalise curriculum adjustments, assessments, tests and exams schedule for the remainder of the year and I hope to provide this information to you shortly.
I would once again like to thank you for your outstanding support last term and I look forward to working with you as we continue your child’s education in Term Two.
