Dear Parents and Caregivers
As you are aware, information and protocols are changing daily. Several things have changed since my last communication and I will briefly outline these.
Most importantly, Schools in WA remain open. Today 50% of our students are still attending. Parents are now able to make this choice in the best interests of their family without any academic or non-academic impact for students. Please see the information below.
To support staff and students the following has been decided:
As a nation:
NAPLAN has been cancelled for 2020.
As a school:
What are we doing at school:
If your child has a diagnosed medical issue, the school may contact you to discuss your child’s absence further.
If your child does not have an underlying diagnosed medical issue and their absence does not fall under the Department of Health guidelines of those needing to self-isolate, found here –
we are not able to provide your child with individualised program of school work as this is beyond our current resources. We are however working hard to ensure all students are catered for. As you are aware we use ‘Connect’ to provide educational and course resources for all students. We are now providing more resources into this space for all students. We ask that you use Connect to follow the course outline and look for the resources posted by staff. We suggest Year 11 and 12 students should also take home and/or contact the school to arrange collection of any of their personal text books. We also recommend students follow their daily school timetable while at home to keep up with work presented in class.
Student progress reports have been sent home. Teachers may have requested parent interviews. We will pause these discussions at the moment and reschedule an opportunity and hope to be able to reschedule the Parent Teacher Conference Day later in the year.
The City of Kalamunda has closed the library, therefore our library is only open to students between 8.15am and 3.15pm. No one other than students and staff may enter the Library, students can no longer stay later than 3.15pm.
Only 60 students may be in the Library at any one time for now. This may mean your child may not be able to access the Library before school or at lunchtime. The only entry is from the school rear entry door.
