TRANSITIONING THE CLASSES OF 2019 AND 2020
July 28th, 2014
As part of the transition to high school program, Lesmurdie Senior High School hosted Year 6 and 7 students from our local intake schools. This followed on from the primary school visits conducted by the Principal, John Stone, earlier this year where he discussed butterflies in the belly or the anxious feeling accompanying the transition to high school.
The rationale behind the program is to allow students to experience specialist tuition in specialised classrooms, as well as moving between classrooms and adjusting to a much larger campus. With their teachers, Year 6 and 7 students experienced a modified day in the life of a high school student.
Allowing students to experience our Lesmurdie tone will hopefully reduce any butterflies and build excitement about next year. Feedback from participating students was overwhelmingly positive and their smiles were a good indication.
Year 6 and 7 students will participate in another round of transitions in Term 4 and their parents will have the opportunity to attend Year 6 and 7 Parent Information Evenings.
