Year 7 Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) Application Form (Students new to IMSS only)

IMSS provides instrumental music services to more than 450 public primary and secondary schools reaching more than 15,000 students across the state. Students enrolling in Year 7 at Lesmurdie Senior High School (LSHS) for 2027 have the opportunity to join this program, where you will participate in free instrumental lessons, learn classroom music and participate in bands/ensembles.

Complete this form if your child is currently learning an instrument privately or they wish to join the program with no prior experience. Entry is dependent on completing a simple aural test, an audition and is subject to available places.
You will be contacted with confirmation and further information once received and processed by the LSHS IMSS coordinator.

Please read the important information before applying to join the program.

• It is an expectation that students who join IMSS will stay in the program until at least Year 10.
• I understand that not all students may be offered a place in the IMSS program. If not already an IMSS student in Year 6, my child will need to complete a simple aural test and an audition to be considered for a place.
• There is a compulsory $25 charge for Year 7 IMSS.
• If you need to hire an instrument, a loan instrument can be hired for $130 per year. (subject to availability)
• IMSS students’ Performing Arts class will be Music (classroom).
• IMSS instrumental lessons run for the full school year.
• Weekly instrumental practice at home is required.
• Attendance at all IMSS lessons is required.
• Joining an ensemble/band and attending weekly rehearsals outside school hours is required (before or after school, depending on the ensemble.
• Students will only join an ensemble/band when their tutor and ensemble director considers them ready in terms of proficiency.
