Year 9 LEAP class wins Curtin University Engineering in Schools Program
December 1st, 2014
Throughout this year, the Year 9 LEAP class has been involved in the Curtin University Engineering in Schools program. This has been centred around identifying a need in a third world country, and using problem solving techniques to come up with an engineering solution to this problem.
Dedicated engineering students from Curtin University have come to the school on a regular basis to mentor the class through the process.
As the culmination of all this hard work, a presentation night was held at Curtin University with all six schools involved in the program. Each school had two presentations and submitted reports and posters. Some groups also made prototypes of their designs. Against significant competition Lesmurdie scooped the pools with one team winning the best Engineering Report and we also won the overall cumulative prize for the top school.
The presenting teams did a fantastic job and showed themselves as professional and extremely capable young engineers. Well done!
