USI Number

A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is an individual education number for life. It provides online access to records of Vocation Education and Training (VET) within Australia. People undertaking courses through university, TAFE or other nationally recognised training require USIs. In order to be enrolled into a qualification, students must have a valid USI.

Follow these 6 steps

  1. Have at least one form of ID ready: Medicare Card, Birth Certificate, Driver’s Licence, Australian Passport, Vis, Citizenship or Immigration card.
  2. Have your personal contact details ready: Address, Date of Birth, phone number, email, etc.
  3. Visit https://www.usi.gov.au/students/get-a-usi and click on ‘Student Login’. Then click ‘Create USI’.
  4. Enter your personal details (must match ID). Then click ‘Create your USI now”. Agree to the terms and conditions and click ‘Next’. From here follow all steps carefully.
  5. Record your 10 –digit alpha numeric USI number for future reference.
  6. Provide USI to the Senior School Office or email the VET Office (trish.green2@education.wa.edu.au or deidre.mckenzie@education.wa.edu.au)
