Engineering and Mechatronics This program of study combines mechanical engineering, electronics, and computer science to provide students with hands-on experience in designing and building intelligent systems. Students explore real-world problem-solving through innovative projects that integrate multiple disciplines, preparing them for careers in advanced manufacturing, automation, and emerging technologies in Engineering.
Languages
Lesmurdie Senior High School offers a highly developed Italian program that combines strong partnerships, immersive cultural experiences and consistency and continuity of language learning from primary school to high school. Students can enter the program at any level—from beginner to advanced. Italian at Lesmurdie Senior High School prepares students to thrive in an increasingly multilingual and internationally connected world.
Our program includes:
- Tiered classes in Years 7 and 8 (Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced)
- Ongoing connection with the Bibbulmun Network primary schools
- A native-speaking Italian Language Assistant each year
- Nationally recognised VET Certificates II and III in Applied Language (Italian)

Robotics Students engage with cutting-edge technology by designing, programming, and operating robotic systems. This program develops critical thinking, coding skills, and collaborative teamwork as students compete in challenges and create solutions to complex problems using autonomous and remotely controlled machines. Students will go up against the state at Curtin University in the annual WARP competition.
Outdoor Education Lesmurdie Senior High School’s Outdoor Education Program offers Year 10, 11 and 12 students the opportunity to challenge themselves, develop leadership, teamwork, and resilience, and connect deeply with the natural world. Students participate in a range of exciting activities including mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, abseiling, rock climbing, hiking, camp craft, and knot tying. Through a series of dynamic outdoor pursuits and expeditions, students learn practical skills, environmental awareness, and self-confidence that extend well beyond the classroom. Outdoor Education is more than an academic subject, it’s an opportunity for personal growth, adventure, and connection. Students graduate with lifelong skills that help them thrive in a complex, changing world.
UniReady This university preparation program provides academically motivated students with a head start on tertiary education. Participants undertake university-level coursework while still in high school, utilising this alternative pathway for direct entry into Curtin University for some degrees, while developing the academic rigor and independent learning skills essential for higher education success.
Astronomy Observatory Students explore the wonders of the universe through our dedicated observatory telescope. This program offers practical astronomical observation, astrophotography, and celestial navigation, inspiring scientific curiosity while developing skills in physics, mathematics, and scientific inquiry through the study of space.
Workplace Learning This program connects classroom theory with real-world professional experience. Students undertake structured placements in industry settings, developing employability skills, professional networks, and practical knowledge while exploring potential career pathways in authentic workplace environments. Students that are deemed suitable can be accepted into a four-day program and complete TAFE or WPL on the Friday.
Vocational Education and Training (VET) Students gain nationally recognized qualifications and industry-relevant skills through practical, hands-on training. VET programs provide direct pathways to employment or further training, offering certificates in various trades and industries while equipping students with workplace competencies valued by employers.
Curtin University Lesmurdie Internship Program (CULIP) The CULIP Program is a highly regarded internship opportunity with Curtin University, reflecting LSHS as a school of choice to train pre service teachers due to our staff’s expertise in Teaching and Learning.
In partnership with Lesmurdie Senior High School, Curtin School of Education offers a unique internship opportunity to Secondary Pre-Service teachers who are completing their teaching qualifications.
As part of the CULIP Program, Pre-Service teachers will be immersed in all aspects of teaching by attending Lesmurdie SHS throughout the year. They will be under the guidance of experienced and supportive mentor teachers and administrators.
Pre-Service teachers who participate in this internship gain confidence through hands on experience and regard themselves as more classroom ready. Principals are keen to employ graduates, especially those who can attain and sustain proven practice over an extended time in a secondary setting.
